Raising money for a charity or helping out people less fortunate then yourself is like a drug. I tried it and now I am hooked!

Are you game to stop thinking "What's in it for me?"

Are you game to start thinking "How can I help?"

WARNING !

YOUR IDEAS WILL NOT WORK UNLESS YOU DO !

Since 1993 Tony Mowbray has raised over $100,000 for various charities and deserving causes.

His story is one of tremendous perseverance and a wholly committed attitude and once in full stride with his sights focussed on the next challenge, he is a man that does not take "No" for an answer.

Up until 1992/93 Tony was one of the "What's in it for me?" thinkers.

In 1992 his first child, Holly, was born and in 1993 his son Jordan came along. Around this point in time Tony was 38 years of age and half jokes that he started to have a mid life crisis early so that he would have room for a couple more later on.

In 1994 he committed himself to raising funds for, and awareness of, Hunter Life Education, by using his double handed, non stop sailing trip around Australia (spending 54 days at sea ) as the vehicle to raise $30,000 for their drug and alcohol awareness programmes.

In 1994 he became one of the "How can I help?" thinkers.

Throughout 1995/96 Tony and friends would take up to 25 intellectually and/or physical disabled people "for a sail" on Lake Macquarie, take them ashore for a barbecue. Wheel chairs? I hear you ask . No problems, just drop them down the front hatch and let's go!

In February 1996 Sail for Canteen '96 took place whereby Tony and his good friends Keir Enderby and Vince Bezzina sailed non stop for 7days and nights around the Lake raising money for Canteen -- The Teenage Cancer Patients Society.

Late 1997 saw the Metroll Laser 24 Hour Marathon staged at Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club raising $20,000 - going to the NBN Television Telethon which in total raised in excess of $3,000,000 to enable a research facility to be built so as to attract a paediatric oncologist to the Hunter region.

In May 1997 Tony and friend, Aaron Bulloch, organised a tribute night for the living legend of Lake Macquarie, Jack Morgan.

Sailability Belmont 16's benefited from Tony's drive in 1997 as well, when he "had a quick ring around " and raised $2,350 to enable them to purchase another sailing dinghy specifically designed to give disabled "participants the opportunity to leave the restraints they have lived with, to experience the fun and freedom of sailing."

Currently, he is preparing himself and his boat, Solo Globe Challenger, for an attempt to sail non stop, single handed , around the world , departing in October 2000.

Why not have Tony at your next function and have your participants ask of themselves .... HOW CAN I HELP?
