I've never ever thought for such a long extended period of time that I was going to drown. Death was just in front of us.

I was thinking .....

What happens when I fall in the water?

How long before I become unconsious and die?

Will my last thoughts be of my kids and wife?

Tony Mowbray and his crew of 7 set sail on the 26th December in the 1998 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race on board his yacht Solo Globe Challenger. They were to try out some new equipment that had been installed in preparation for Tony's upcoming attempt to sail non-stop, single handed around the world.

Not for a second did they think that in a little over 24 hours they would be fighting for their very existence in notorious Bass Strait where they found themselves right in the middle of the chaos and tragedy that claimed 6 lives. The 60 feet high killer waves and 80plus knot(150km/h) provided a challenge that few of us ever have to face in our lifetime.

With various crew restricted by injury after the boat was rolled and dismasted they battled wave after wave for 15 hours (mostly at night) in a supreme team effort.

Tony Mowbray's presentation is packed full of inspiration and motivation but at the same time has a strong corporate message. Teamwork, leadership, planning, motivation, goal setting and good old fashioned 'having a go' mean the difference between the light at the end of the tunnel being a ray of sunshine or a steam train heading at you.
