Update #61 - 2nd January 2001 (10.00pm AEDST)
Position - 21°36' S, 07°59' W

360 miles to St Helena Island

MEDIA PLEASE TAKE PARTICULAR NOTE: The Satellite Phone either can't or won't play the game, so I have given up on it for the time being and 'tis time to enact Plan B. I have made contact with Capetown Radio and established that I can make calls through them, via my Newcastle Port Corporation HF Radio, to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I will be the one to initiate these calls and whilst I will do that as close as I can to your program schedule there will be factors out of my control that will require you to be flexible and "take me when you can".

If you haven't already registered with Station 12 to enable you to send me e-mails direct to the boat, then I urge you to do so. It will allow the process to run much more smoothly if you can advise me directly of changes, different days, etc. We still have over 3 months to go out here, so it will be worth your while to get the system sorted out. The number to ring to register with Station 12 is 1800 815 555.

I will need to know the best time and number to ring, as well as having someone answering the line that is up to speed with what's happening.

For those of you outside the media, if you send me an e-mail asking me to ring, then I will do so. I'm sorry for the change of plans but I am confident that Plan B will be a significant improvement. I look forward to hearing all of your melodious voices over the airwaves.

Take care,

Tony Mowbray
